Digimon partner- Akira will have two partners, twin digimon.
Gummymon > Terriermon > Witchmon > LadyDevimon > Minervamon
Chocomon > Lopmon > Wizarmon > LadyDevimon > Minervamon
Reason for Multiple Partners: One of the biggest things that make up Akira as a character is that he moonlights as a thief, the Man of Many Faces/Man of 20 Faces (however you want to translate that). Akira himself, however, is a rather peaceful boy, and would rather not steal from people if he has the choice. In fact, the only reason he is driven to thievery to begin with is because of his twin mothers, and their constant desire for things that can't be attained otherwise.
Without that influence, a beneficial part of Akira's character is effectively taken out of the picture, as Akira obviously wouldn't become his alter ego unless he had a driving foce behind it. Since Akira's mothers are their own characters and can potentially be applied for here in digital dive (despite the chances of an application for those two being extremely unlikely), it would be best to have the digimon partners act as his mothers, and become the drive that Akira needs in order to be able to keep that part of him alive and active.
On another note, who doesn't want to see a showdown between The Man of Many Faces and Kaitou Kid?

Character history-
Note: This history is horribly paraphrased. For more than just basic detail on events that happened in the CLAMP School Detectives story, please to be referring to Nokoru and Suoh's applications. Thank you very much, and please don't slay me for the horrible paraphrasing.
Akira was born to twin mothers (don't ask how this works out, it just does), and a father. While growing up, Akira didn't get to see his father too often; his father was someone very important, and very infamous: The Man of 20 Faces, a thief who was able to steal even the most heavily-guarded items without too much of a problem. Akira grew up hearing stories of his wonderful father from his mothers, who were both very much enamored with him even despite him being away so often.
Even despite loving him, though, it was plain to see to even a small child like Akira that his mothers missed his father terribly. Akira, who loved his mothers more than anything in the world, wanted to make them happy as his first priority in life.
And thus, the stories of his father led to Akira wanting to be the wonderful man his father was, so that his mothers would be happier. Once his mothers learned of his desire to become like his father, they didn't hesitate in training him in the ways his father had been. Over the span of a few years, Akira learned stealth, trickery, doppleganger techniques, and, in general, how to be the best child thief known to the world. He even attained a tuxedo, cape, mask, and top hat; something befitting of every thief, according to the laws of anime and manga.
But Akira was still very young. And as with every young child, he had to go to school. For the first several years of his life, Akira had been homeschooled by his mothers, but it soon became clear that Akira was far too smart for his mothers to continue teaching him ... not only that, but he had never had an opportunity to really interact with other children of his age group. So, sometime in his early schooling, Akira had been enrolled in the most prestigious school known to the world: CLAMP School. Akira excelled in his studies due to his mothers' guidance, and was easily able to do work of a higher level than his age suggested.
It is unknown as to how he met his two greatest friends, Imonoyama Nokoru and Takamura Suoh, but it can be assumed that Akira's magnetic personality and intelligence attracted the two of them to him. There was another spot open on the student council, and so Akira was recruited into being the student council treasurer, alongside Nokoru as the president, and Suoh as the secretary. In time, Akira also made friends with a first year high school boy, Ryuuske, who was the son of the local Sushi Merchant and also his neighbor.
And so, Akira lived a very busy and fulfilling childhood, what with being a part-time thief, being chased by his neighbor (who didn't know he was the man of 20 faces), meeting and falling in love with his ~*~*~ one true love ~*~*~, a kindergardener named Ogawa Utako (who also happens to be the student council president of the kindergarten division at CLAMP school and the second daughter of the head of an "empire"), fulfilling his treasurer duties and being dragged along on Nokoru's crazy and wonderful adventures. For the most part, Akira merely went along with the plans of his wonderful and ephemeral chairman, but on a few occasions he was able to have adventures of his own that didn't include his abilities as a thief, such as helping an older woman win over the man of her dreams: her professor. Akira helped this woman perfect an apple pie recipe so that she would be able to impress her beloved with her skills. After a series of complications, it was successful. Aaaand after that, life continued on as usual. Hectic.
Akira's life stayed delightfully hectic for the next several years, during which his relationships with his best friends became unbreakable, and his relationship with Utako became stronger as he continued with his thieving efforts on behalf of his mothers. At seventeen years old, Akira was deciding on where to take his life during his final years of high school, and even deciding to become a pediatrician, like his uncle was. His life was generally very good, and he was looking forward to the rest of it. He wanted to go to college, propose to Utako and marry her, and continue to make his mothers happy and stay close to his best friends.
Akira was expecting to do a lot more with his life.
What he wasn't expecting was to be transported to another world entirely.
Character personality-
Oh, look. There's that kid who's always smiling.
Does that sound familiar at all? Well, that's about what sums up Akira. He's a cheerful, happy young man, and that hasn't changed a bit since his childhood. He's almost always seen with a smile on that adorable babyface of his. He's a real sweetheart, and is willing to go out on a limb, not just for the people he cares about, but for anybody. He's loyal to a fault, and once he forms his relationships, whether they be friends, family, or other loved ones, he will follow and do whatever he can to make sure they are happy for as long as he possibly can. He's a very responsible young man, and tends to get his work done before doing anything in the way of play. Even as a boy, he had a really good sense of responsibility, and was a quick and efficient worker. That only improved and continued on into his young adulthood.
As with the olden days, Akira has remained to be the most innocent (personality wise; he lost his virginity before Suoh did, believe it or not) of the CLAMP school detectives. While he has wisened up in some areas and doesn't necessarily believe in Santa Claus anymore, he's still very much the youngest of the crew, and he's definitely going to show that, more often than not. He's gullible, and will believe most any well-told fib that he hears ... of course, nobody would take advantage of him like that, though, would they? (HINT HINT)
Akira isn't really a very secretive person by nature. There is only one huge secret he has that he's been able to keep under wraps for most of his life, and that's his alter ego as the infamous 'Man of 20 Faces.' As he won't have much reason to steal things in the Digital World, what with his mothers being back in his own world, he should be able to keep this among those who already know ... which is not many. Other than this, however, Akira is pretty much an open book. He doesn't have much to hide, nor does he enjoy hiding things from his friends and loved ones.
Akira is very easy to fluster, and this is also another thing that's carried over since his days as an itty bitty grade schooler. Just a mention of his significant other or anything overly vulgar and/or embarrassing in nature sends him into a fit of blushing and flailing. It's actually pretty funny to see.
It's very rare to see Akira angry. There's very few things that could make him angry at all. When he does get angry, he doesn't always stay that way for long. Akira isn't the type of person to hold a grudge, and is a firm believer in forgiving, and giving second chances. And maybe third chances. Maybe.
It's also a rarity to see Akira sad. He doesn't get discouraged too easily, and therefore, he doesn't really have too many reasons to feel sad. He's the eternal optimist of the crew, and if he's got a sad face, something really bad must have happened to put it there in the first place. That said? Yeah, it's a rarity. You don't want to see a sad Akira. Every time an Akira is sad, God kills a furry little animal.
.... okay, that's not true, but you get the idea.
Digimon personality-
Akira's twin digimon will be representative of his twin mothers. That being said, the two of them will act quite similarly, and even say the same things and act the same ways at times. As with a lot of stereotypical twin characters, both Terriermon and Lopmon will have a sort of twin-link, which causes them to think the same, finish each others' sentences, etc, etc.
The two of them are actually rather middle-aged, though their personalities contradict their age at times. They're very spoiled, and once they realize that Akira has the abilities of a thief, they will start asking him for rare and valuable things by way of him stealing them, just as his real twin mothers do. Despite how they demand such things of him, however, they really do care deeply about Akira, and think of him as their son regardless of whether or not he is human or digimon. They want what's best for him, and will stop at nothing to make sure that their "little boy" is well taken care of.
Character abilities-
As a professional thief, Akira has very good 'escape artist' skills; he's very good at traps, diversions, strategic planning, and basically, knowing how to get in and out of places in the best possible way to steal things. In addition to his epic thievery skills, he also rocks a tux and looks daaaaamn good in it.
... okay, let's get back to being serious.
In addition to epic thievery skills, Akira is also quite proficient in Kung Fu. While he is nowhere near the level of martial arts expertise that his bff Suoh is, Akira has proven that he can most definitely hold his own in hand to hand combat.
On the not-so-physical side of things, Akira is the best chef/baker ever. Or, that's what everyone who samples his goods seems to imply (no, that was not innuendo). Yes, our dear Akira can only be matched by one Watanuki Kimihiro, but let's not go into that and just leave it at dude, this guy can cook.
Sample RP-
"So, let me see if I have this right," Akira said, sitting cross-legged, back against a tree in a place that looked very much like a forest. Before him sat two digimon, both of which looked very similar in size and form, but both different colors. They did what the could to imitate their new tamer, sitting cross legged themselves, side by side of each other.
"I've been brought here by the God of your world, Yggdrasil, to help save this world."
"Right," the Terriermon in front of him said. "Yggdrasil's mission is very important, and he needs others to help him," the Lopmon finished.
"Uh huh ... wow, It's an honor! Really!" Akira said with a smile, bowing politely to the two before him.
"So this means we'll be working together?"
"Indeed!" both digimon responded with a tiny squeal. They were obviously very pleased with Yggdrasil's choice of tamer for them.
"Then we should get to know each other properly!" Akira said, still as chirpy as ever, then bowed once again.
"I am Ijyuin Akira. I'm seventeen years old. I come from a place called Earth. It's a very nice place, I think you'd enjoy it very much."
The Terriermon and Lopmon both giggled. Oh, yes. They liked Akira.
"I am Terriermon," The Terriermon said, "And I am Lopmon," the Lopmon finished. The two of them bowed.
"We're twin sisters! And we both will be aiding you in your quest to save our world."
Akira brightened. "You're twins? Oh, wow! My mothers are twins, too!"
He was kind of glad that the two digimon didn't ask how that worked. It seemed normal for him, especially after living his entire life with it. It wasn't too long after that another thought hit him, however.
"Oh, Kaichou might not be too happy with the Digital World borrowing me, especially since this could last for quite some time ..." Akira sighed.
"And my Mothers, too ... I wonder if I could at least let them know?"

Is it on? I think it's on ...
Yes, yes! Go ahead and talk, Akira!
The little red light is awaiting your voice!
Okay, then ..
U-Um, Hi! My name is Ijyuin Akira, and I guess I'm here to help with Yggdrasil-san's cause. It's nice to meet all of you out there in the Digital World! Terriermon-san and Lopmon-san have already informed me on a lot of things, but there are still a few things I need.
Would anybody be willing to help me out a little with a place to stay and some food for the three of us? I'm afraid I'm a little short on money ... Does this world even take our money?
I'm afraid not, Akira.
Yes, it's a real shame, isn't it?
A real tragedy.
